Do you want to be the healthiest you can be?

If so then plan on participating in “Walk the Military Trail” and see if your team can get all its participating members to walk the equivalent of 135 miles in 120 days.
This is a competition to promote physical fitness and better health between all the military branches and a civilian group. The 135 miles represents the distance between the major military bases in Kansas of Ft. Riley and Ft. Leavenworth. The competition is based upon which team completes the 135 miles quickest.
Competition starts on July 6, 2008 and ends November 2, 2008
Each week log your miles walked on the log sheets and turn in your miles walked by one of the following ways:
- Call (785) 350-4559 and leave a message with your name, military branch, last 4 numbers of your Social Security Number and number of miles walked
- Bring your log sheet with recorded miles to: Leavenworth VA Medical Center: Patient Health Library, Main Hospital Room B233, Ext. 52620
- Topeka VA Medical Center: Medical Library, Building 1 Room C116, Ext. 52777
- Mail the log sheet with your recorded mileage to: 2200 Gage Blvd Medical Library, T-142D Topeka, KS 66622
*All entries must be received by November 4, 2008 to be included in the final tally. |

There will be laminated maps tracking the progress at each campus as well as St. Joseph, Wyandotte, Lawrence, Junction City, and Ft Scott Community Based Outpatient Clinics.
The event will wrap up with a celebration centered on a “Walk the Final Mile” event at each campus. This will occur at Topeka and Leavenworth VA campuses on November 7, 2008 at 1pm.
Topeka participants will meet at the Gazebo by Bldg 24 and Leavenworth participants will beet in Bldg. 160, 1st floor by the fountain for the walk and celebration.
